Privacy Policy
Effective: January 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how AI GOLF PRO ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and safeguards your information when you use our mobile golf app and related services, including GPS distances, scoring, statistics, AI-powered recommendations, and smartwatch features.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
Name, email address, profile picture, and authentication data when you sign in via Apple, Google, or email.
Golf & Performance Data
Scores, statistics, round history, stroke locations, club selections, handicap information, and notes you enter during play.
Location Data
With your permission, we collect precise GPS coordinates during rounds to provide distances, shot tracking, and course mapping. Location data is recorded at regular intervals while a round is active, including in the background while the app is not in the foreground. We may also use approximate location (e.g., from your IP address) to detect your region for default settings.
Sensor & Watch Data
If you use a compatible smartwatch (e.g., Apple Watch, Wear OS, Garmin), we collect motion sensor data (accelerometer, gyroscope) for swing detection, barometric pressure for elevation context, and heart rate at the moment of detected swings via Apple HealthKit or equivalent platform APIs. We also record workout sessions on the watch. Phone sensors (barometer, pedometer) may be used for elevation and step data.
Device & Usage Data
Device model, operating system, app version, device identifiers, language, push notification tokens, crash reports, performance diagnostics, and general usage patterns (e.g., which features you use) to help us maintain and improve the app.
Photos & Media
Photos, videos, and images you upload (e.g., course photos, swing videos). Media files may include embedded metadata such as location and timestamp.
Contacts
If you choose to find friends, we temporarily access your device contacts to match against existing users. Contact data is transmitted to our servers for matching but is not stored beyond the duration of the request.
2. How We Use Information
- Provide and operate core features: GPS distances, scoring, statistics, AI caddy recommendations, swing analysis, and watch integration.
- Build personalized recommendations based on your individual play history, and improve our algorithms using aggregated data.
- Improve and develop the service, including enhancing course data accuracy and user experience.
- Operate competitions, leaderboards, and rankings.
- Send you push notifications, emails, and in-app messages about your rounds, social activity, feature updates, and promotional offers. You can opt out of non-essential communications in app settings or via unsubscribe links.
- Personalize your experience and communicate relevant updates.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and technical issues.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Anonymized & Aggregated Data
We may use anonymized and aggregated data — data that cannot identify you personally — to improve our service, enhance course information, refine our algorithms, conduct research, and generate general statistics. For example, aggregated GPS and sensor data from many players helps us improve course maps, elevation data, and AI-powered recommendations. This anonymized data is not subject to the restrictions of this Privacy Policy.
4. Apple HealthKit Data
We access Apple HealthKit to start workout sessions on your Watch and read heart rate during swing detection. HealthKit data is used solely to provide app functionality and is not stored in iCloud. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, and we do not sell or share it with third parties for purposes unrelated to providing the service to you.
5. Location Services
Location features require your permission. You can enable or disable location access at any time in your device settings. Core features such as GPS distances and shot tracking require location data to function.
6. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share information with:
- Infrastructure & hosting providers that store and process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality obligations.
- Crash reporting & monitoring services that help us identify and fix bugs and performance issues.
- Map providers that display course maps and satellite imagery within the app.
- Payment platforms (Apple App Store, Google Play) that process subscription and in-app purchases under their own terms.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.
- Advertising partners: we may display advertisements or sponsored content within the Service. We may share device identifiers and general usage data with advertising partners to serve relevant ads. You can limit ad tracking in your device settings. We never use HealthKit data for advertising.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user information may be transferred as permitted by law.
7. Your Privacy Controls
The app provides granular privacy settings that let you control the visibility of your profile, round history, and statistics. You can choose from multiple privacy levels — from fully hidden to fully open — and override visibility for individual data points. You control whether your profile is discoverable by other users.
- Adjust your privacy level and per-item visibility in the app settings.
- Access, update, or delete your account and personal information.
- Request a complete deletion of your account and associated data.
- Manage location, contacts, and health permissions in your device settings.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account and performance data for as long as your account is active. Diagnostic logs and crash reports are retained for up to 12 months, then deleted or anonymized. Anonymized and aggregated data may be retained indefinitely. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
9. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and row-level access controls in our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s Privacy
Our app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. International Data Transfers
Our servers and service providers may be located outside your country of residence, including in the European Union and the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses to protect data transferred across borders.
12. Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Our legal basis for processing is contract performance (providing the service you signed up for), legitimate interest (improving the service and ensuring security), and consent (for optional features like location and HealthKit). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email.
